In the digital era, we have social media which allows people to share their information, experiences, ideas, opinions, and create their online communities through social media such as; Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram. We are all active users who use a lot of social media and devices to store data and communicate with others.
Social media is like a two-edged sword which has both pros
and cons. It can make two people feel that they’re getting closer, but
sometimes it could make two people feel that they’re getting farther apart from
each other or it could mess up your life. In other words, it could
help to improve a relationship to the new level, but it also can destroy
everything in a few second.
Have you already in a relationship with your
boyfriend or girlfriend on Facebook? Have you already tell him/her how much you
love each other through social media? Do
you always post a selfie photo of you guys on Instagram? Do you have your
boyfriend/girlfriend in top friends on snapchat?
Now, the pattern of relationship between two people has changed. They tend to rely on their virtual online relationship more than the reality. When you in relationship on Facebook with someone or when you posting a status like “I hate you” “you are such a suck boyfriend”, your friends will automatically know it without asking you. Sometimes, it could build better relationship with your partner. But when people care too much about their online relationship, it might causes troublesome.

Even we are appreciated to the advanced technology in which today we also have many texting
apps which are new ways for people to contact with their love one, sometimes
it could cause us to get in trouble about lack of interaction in reality.
How do you feel if your sweetheart text someone during your date? Do you want
to know who is your boy friend/ girl friend texting with? Do you feel distrust?
According to the Pew Research Center… They show both people’s negative and positive technology experiences in relationship.

For the negative experiences, we might see that some 8% of online adults in a marriage or partnership have argued with their partner about the amount of time one of them was spending online, 4% have been upset by something they found out that their partner was doing online, and fully 25% of cell phone owners have felt that their spouse or partner was distracted by their cell phone when spending time together.
For the positive experiences, we might see that 21% of internet and cell phone users have felt closer to their partner because of exchanges or conversations they had online or by text message. Another 9% have resolved an argument with their partner online or by texting that they had difficulty resolving in person. And 25% of text messaging users who are in relationships have texted their partner while both were home together.

After I saw this statistic, I have no surprise at all because people now use a lot of social media like all the time. Think about what is the first thing you do after waking up? I would definitely believe that 90% of people will check their WhatsApp, Line, Facebook message, or some may use it to surf the internet. I would say that everyone uses it every time and everywhere they go, especially in restaurant which supposed to be a special time that the partners should talk together. As I see, the partners use their smart phone all the time talking with other person in the online world through instant message applications instead of talking with you. Moreover, sometimes it’s quite ridiculous when I saw two people sitting beside each other and texting together instead of face-to-face talking together. From this point, it could destroy your relationship and it could get worse. On the other hand, if you text your partner when you apart from each other and resolve argument with your partner by using social media. That’s work. It could help you to have a good relationship.
“Therefore, Social media doesn't ruin
your relationship. The most important thing is how you use it with the right
time and right place”
